The Orchestra

The orchestra is made up of the finest players from Cornwall, Devon and further afield. During the last six years here are some of the press comments:

‘Cornwall’ and ‘Cornish’ should be synonymous with quality: would the assertion be justified? The audience gave a resolute ‘thumbs up’ with a lengthy standing ovation at the end both to encourage the vision and determination of conductor Ian Hughes and his supporters in creating the orchestra and to show their appreciation of the players.

The Cornish Sinfonia has done its reputation a power of good in the past few days. Its members contributed to a fine performance of the new opera by Russell Pascoe. Just four days later the orchestra stepped into the breach left by the demise of the Bournemouth Sinfonietta.... Music lovers responded by turning up in large numbers.
